Our School Home, at long last!
We listened to feedback, we searched Coweta County and we believe we have finally found a great 1st home for our school that will be convenient for both Coweta and Fayette Families AND meet our school goals of beautiful space within which to worship & teach and room to garden and recreate outdoors.
Resurrection Lutheran Church (corner of Lora Smith Road and Hwy. 34) and Ave Maria Academy met tonight to go over at a high level the idea of the school leasing space from the church. The discussion ended with a firm commitment to proceed with drafting the lease agreement and working with the county on any details that may need attention before we commence August 8th. We are ever so grateful to Pastor Gary Christensen for responding to our call and opening their doors and hearts to sit down and discuss the possibilities. There is much common ground between the organizations including the desire to create a garden (raised beds, orchard, vineyard) that will serve as an outdoor class room environment and offer food for families in need. Discussion even ventured into the idea of a long term relationship in utilizing future space expansion. It was an evening of fellowship, of recognizing and respecting faith differences, of understanding there will be some bumps along the way and uncovering common ground. The plan will be to draft a one year lease with an option to renew year two and during this time continue talks about a long-term relationship.
We look forward to our official open house, to be announced for sometime late July or early August, so that you can see the space and meet our staff and volunteers.
As always, we ask for your prayers as this new partnership forms and we joyfully come together in Christian fellowship mutually benefiting from the resources, gifts and talents we can share with one another.
